Everything You Need to Know About Kimberley's Gift Bags

Gift Bags Explained

In this article, we're looking specifically at our lovely gift bag range. These are a great way to give flowers because they come wrapped and ready. Here's a quick summary of what we'll cover:

  • Our standard Kimberleys gift bags are priced from £40 to £60 and include a handtied bouquet, gift wrap, and a smart gift bag finished with a satin bow.

  • A great option if you need to travel with the flowers: the water keeps them hydrated, and the bag helps them stand upright.

  • Colour options include pinks, purples and pastels; oranges and yellows; neutrals; or florist choice. Bespoke requests are always welcome.

  • The stems are sealed in a water pouch with flower food added, so the flowers stay fresh from our studio to the recipient’s door.

  • Every bag includes a sachet of flower food to keep the flowers looking beautiful when they've been transferred to a vase

  • Customers can add a personalised message

  • We offer same-day delivery across Clevedon, Yatton, Nailsea, Portishead and the wider North Somerset area

If you have ever wanted to send flowers that feel a little bit special - not just a bunch handed over at the door or from the supermarket - our gift bags might be exactly what you are looking for!

Here is a further look at what goes into them and what makes them a perfect way to give a bouquet...

What is a Handtied Bouquet?

Every gift bag starts with a handtied bouquet. If you have not heard the term before, it simply means the flowers are gathered and tied by hand into a beautiful, balanced arrangement. There is no wire frame or foam block holding things in place, just skilled hands and years of experience working out how the flowers sit best together. It is one of the most popular styles that we make, and it always looks gorgeous.

Choosing Your Colours

To keep things simple, we offer four colour options to suit different tastes and occasions:

  • Pinks, purples and pastels - soft, romantic, and ever popular
  • Oranges and yellows - warm and uplifting, brilliant for celebrations or to lift spirits
  • Neutrals - calm and understated, an elegant choice often chosen for condolences or wedding gifts
  • Florist choice - leave it with us and we will pick what looks beautiful that day

If none of those quite fit what you have in mind, just give us a call on 01934 263057. We are always happy to put something bespoke together. If you want bespoke stems, please give us plenty of notice so that we can order your special flowers in.

How is the Bag Put Together?

Once the bouquet is made, we wrap it in paper chosen to complement the flower colours. The wrapping is part of the gift, and we want it to look as good as the flowers inside.

Here is the detail that we think really sets our gift bags apart: the stems are placed in a small clear cellophane pouch filled with water, with flower food already mixed in. This keeps the flowers fresh and hydrated from the moment they leave our studio to the moment they arrive with the lucky recipient. No wilting or dried out stems! And if the recipient won't be home for a few hours, the flowers are held together and won't get thirsty.

The whole bouquet is placed in smart gift bag, finished with a satin ribbon bow. The bag helps to keep the bouquet standing upright - ideal for if you need to travel with the bunch.

How Long will the Flowers Last?

Our flowers have been known to last for one month! But generally, we say they'll last well up to 10 days. There are a few care tips to keep in mind to help them last. Bear in mind that all stems are different, and some naturally last longer than others.

  • It's a good idea to keep an eye on the water level, and if it's getting low you can pour water directly into the middle of the bouquet. It will trickle down into the bag. If you don't have a watering can, a bottle is a convenient way to do this.
  • After a few days, and if the stems are starting to wilt or discolour, it's time to unwrap the flowers and remove any sad stems - this helps keep the other flowers fresh.
  • We recommend cutting a hole in the bubble of water over the sink to let the water drain, then unwrap or cut through the tape and take the wrapping off. Look for your sachet of flower food before recycling the soft plastic!
  • Trim any remaining stems at a 45 degree angle (bigger surface area = more water absorption).
  • If you're worried about the bouquet losing it's shape, try not to cut through the elastic band or tape holding it together. Just wiggle any of the sad stems out. If it's being stubborn, cut the stem in half and pull it from either end.
  • Dissolve your sachet of flower food in your chosen vase, and pop your bouquet in. You might need to cut the stems a bit shorter and have a play until it fits nicely. Enjoy the process!

Add A Personal Message

A lovely gift deserves a personal touch. We can include a personalised message with every bag, written on one of our pretty note cards. Just let us know what you would like it to say when you place your order.
We get all sorts of message, so don't worry if you think it's a bit weird or unusual!

Prices

Gift bags start at £40 and go up to £60 (or more) depending on the flowers chosen. We also offer a Petite Petals bouquet which is very similar but it is £30, and comes in a white, fluted card giftbox, with a ribbon tied round. Another great one for travelling with, for a smaller token or gift.

Same Day Delivery Across North Somerset

We hand-deliver every gift bag ourselves across Clevedon, Yatton, Nailsea, Portishead and the wider North Somerset area. That means the flowers are handled with care from start to finish. No courier, no cardboard boxes, no worrying about whether they will arrive looking the way you hoped. We have been doing this for nearly 30 years, and we still take the same care with every single delivery that we always have.
